Open the essay templatesInterpretation
An AP exam calculator converts the answers you enter into an unofficial composite estimate. It cannot reproduce College Board scoring, predict the exact conversion used for a specific form, or remove uncertainty from self-scored free responses.
Run a realistic case and a conservative case. If both land in the same score band, focus on maintaining consistency. If they span multiple bands, inspect the section with the largest uncertainty and turn that gap into a study task.
Data quality
Use completed practice work instead of the score you hope to receive. For free responses, apply the current public rubric carefully and avoid awarding points for an idea that is present but not earned under the scoring criteria.
Recalculate after a full practice set rather than after every question. A larger sample is more useful for planning and reduces the chance that one unusually easy or difficult prompt controls the result.
Frequently asked questions
No. AP Score Calc is an independent study tool and is not affiliated with or endorsed by College Board. Results are planning estimates, not official AP scores.
The current numeric tools cover AP Calculus AB/BC and AP Psychology. The AP Lang page provides essay templates rather than a numeric calculator.
Score conversions can vary by exam form and year, and self-scoring free responses introduces uncertainty. Use a range and recheck the official exam and rubric information before making study decisions.
